Pallet jack was leaking. Seal around the pump had gone bad. It still worked, but was clearly leaking. (It's a Grainger 5LA79 for what that matters.)
Got the requisite seals from Grainger. Installed new seals on the pump and ram. Putting in the seal on the pump was a royal PITA to fit in. Put it back together and the thing won't lift at all. My best bet is a big air pocket in the pump. I've gone through the directed steps on how to bleed the jack though, and no effect. Or possibly I screwed something up trying to install this seal - either put it in upside down (damn thing is a Y seal, not an O-ring) or damaged it trying to install.
Any advice on how to uber-bleed this pump? Or do I just say "berkeley it" and buy a new complete pump assembly?
Well, I had a similar problem. I had a HF "racing" aluminum jack that started leaking. I pulled it apart and put new O ring(s) in it. Put it all together, went through the air-bubble removal process, etc. It would not pump up. Nothing. I got pissed at it, threw it in the scrap pile, went to HF and bought their top of the line floor jack. A couple days later, I walked out to the shop, past the scrap pile, and the "racing" jack was sitting there at full height. It worked perfect and I still use it.
So, in your case, I dunno, just say berkeley it, have a beer and look at it tomorrow. Go through the up/down/jack stuff and if it won't work, buy a new one.
Fixed it. The steel ball for the control valve fell out into my oil drain pan. Fished it out and replaced it. Works perfectly now.

Back to business then I assume...
We used to hold pallet jack races at the food store I worked at while going to college. After hours of course!
I'm annoyed by the square footage of the parts house I work at now. No room for pallet jack drifting.
