TIL all the gifts given to Frank Shirley, Clark's boss in Christmas Vacation are all identical, save for the wrapping paper. The are, apparently, desk organizers. 35 years and I finally noticed tonight.

TIL there are inflating air bag suits for the elderly that inflate when sensors sense a fall. Here's one: https://sairbagpro.com/
My Dad broke a hip in a fall in his home. I have positional vertigo and can lose my balance if I get too far off center. I've fallen over 15 times in my house. Nothing broken but sore afterwards.
Great invention.

That's why there are so many stripped seatbelt bolts.
The Ioniq 5 N comes equipped with 80 treadwear tires as standard (not a typo). Most owners are reporting they need new rubber around the 5,000 mile mark. Yikes.
TIL - or was reminded by a marathon of "It's a Wonderful Life", where Sesame Street's Bert & Ernie got their names.
The taxi driver and the cop from the movie.
Public transportation in London does not run on Christmas. No buses, trains, subways. That seems really weird for a modern city.
My cousin's son who is a Ranger, Airborne, West Point grad is now applying to Special Forces, and got engaged yesterday.
That the low-bass-voiced feller who sang "you're a mean one, Mr. Grinch" is the same dude that voiced Tony the Tiger and after finding that out I'm wondering why it wasn't blindingly obvious to me from the getgo.
In reply to Appleseed :
My internal monologue sings that song every time I see a sign that says "no dogs allowed"
Not today but a couple days ago.
Not sure why it's taken me 45 years to learn "If you don't ask, you don't get".
Hit up a couple of my main parts suppliers over the last week and asked for a better discount on parts. Each one of them said yes and bumped up my discount.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
I have an account with NAPA because I worked there on Saturdays (just to get the employee discount). That was 20+ years go but I still get the discount. Yesterday I bought 3 jugs of Anti-Freeze @ $26.10 each. I paid $10.65 each. Discount is less for high end brake rotors vs cheap Chinese stuff, but you gotta ask.
TIL that the wheeled base for an office or gaming chair is available separately. I have this pretty sweet gaming chair that is very comfortable, has a footrest, and will recline flat for afternoon naps. All of a sudden, the bottom of the hydraulic piston started dragging on the ground because I managed somehow to crack the base. For about $35, I ordered up a new base from Amazon and hopefully it will get my chair back in service!
Also, TIL: saving my old, beat up office chair was a good thing. Packrat mentality reinforced!
