BTW, I laughed at Blazing Saddles too and it's WAY more offensive.

Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together can tell that the picture is a spoof. Yes, it's insensitive and racist but I laughed anyway.

What's really sad is that people are getting this wound up about it.

Yeah, I laughed, too. I also shot Indians as a kid but I turned out ok.

Good call on Blazing Saddles Transmaro. I think I'll go watch it again, but I won't post any of the humor found therein....

Nobody is getting banned, but the protest is curious. There aren't many threads or posts that get removed, so to get indignant about what stays (99%) and what goes (1%) seems like a red herring.

The original post (and it's clone) was considered by our management (Us, me, them, the folks what made this place for you to come goof around on.) to be in poor taste, and without sufficient redeeming qualities to justify it's existence on our server. Sorry if you're offended that we didn't want to help broadcast the decidedly offensive joke that was posted. Maybe there's another site out there that would like that sort of humor better.

Alright, my google-fu came back fully restored this morning. I don't see what the big deal is. It's pretty outright racist. I am fully aware that it's a joke and treat it as such, being that I've grown some really thick skin, being a member of some of the softer underbelly of the interwebs and deciding that being a substitute teacher would be a decent way to make some extra cash.

I can fully understand the reason it's been pulled twice. If this were on the Accord board I moderate, it would be pulled, and if it were posted a second time, I'd have a serious discussion with the poster about inappropriate content and give a strike against his account so that if it happens again more serious actions, such as banning, could take place.

To echo the sentiment from some of the other members here, I'm here because this is, for the most part, one of the most mature automotive sites on the internet. When content just doesn't mesh well with the rest of the site, sometimes it's best to not allow it.

I'll add that if your post is deleted by the management of this board once, it's probably not a good idea to post it again.

Blazing Saddles is funny? I always thought it was the first of Mel's "downward spiral" movies and thus horrid as a result. All types, I suppose....

If you didn't see that as a joke and/or a little funny then find some thicker skin, all i'm saying. This forum is nowhere near as offensive as the majority of them, despite the hookers and the dead babies threads which I also think is a hell of a lot worse than this topic

I actually shown the original thread to a friend of mine, yes he's black, and he thought it was the funniest thing he has seen in awhile.

You guys sound like a panel made up of Steve Allen clones. You can't really dictate "funny". One guy's pile of pitchforked dead babies is another man's "Superman, a priest, a pollack and Mike Tyson walk into a bar...".

I'm easy... this thread makes me laugh.

In the end - the guy who writes the check to pay for the bandwidth gets to make the call. I'll go out on a limb and guess he (she?) didn't think it was funny.

I wasn't spectacularly irritated with the original post, but didn't think ditching it was a bad idea either.

The thing that bothered me the most about it was that it seemed phrased to suggest that the image was real, and I had to go follow the link to find out otherwise.

So I had a moment of supreme aggravation with the human race, and instead of a punchline, all I got was "Twitterers believe photoshopped image", which is not news.

So, the only interest in the whole thing came from the attempt to get me with the same hoax, if only temporarily.

A month or two ago when I was regularly changing the names under which I post, I got my screen name deleted for being offensive. Do I get some sort of award for that?

I didn't know Tom was being serious, so I didn't think it was deleted. Maybe it's because I was in a joking mood when I read it, I don't know. Right about the same time I think the site was experienceing difficulties so I assumed (what's that they say about assuming?) it got lost.
Again Tim, Per, Marjorie, Tom and others; I'm sorry I offended. But I think it would have been a good idea to give me a clue. I'm not a newb here, a quick PM that said "Dude, knock it off" or something would have gone a long way. See, I have no prescendent to go from either. There have been many other posts that were just as offensive to many here. A fake sign meant to cause an internet stir is terrible, joking about dead babies is ok. I guess I just pissed off the wrong folks.

Well... DUH. Glad you got that all cleared up.

I wouldn't want the deleted post on my server either. Just move on. We have a fairly long leash here to do what we please. If we occaisonally bump up against a limit, just roll with it.
