OK, we've got a six year old LG washer that likes to shake and buck around. It's bad enough to walk around and throw off the cats food and water we keep up there out of dog range. It's got worse, much worse, over time. Previous machines it was a sure sign of a busted shock. Pulled the front and back off and all three shocks and both springs are fine. Internet wisdom says that these things are critical on being level. I've adjusted both the washer level to the pedestal and the pedestal to the floor, which I admit isn't perfectly level (a corner of the room is a little raised, so it would be tripoding on a perfectly flat surface, but is perfect where it is.
So, I assume that even though the shocks are normally a simple air tube damper, they must wear out. Amazon says that the correct shocks are $26 each, funny I thought they were about $10 each which either means that things have gone up since I last went shopping, or these are a little different from the normal shock. Part # for those interested is 'LG Washing Machine Shock Absorber 383EER3001S' So I was planning on just changing all three, but before I drop $76 for three is there a) anything else to look at or b) a better quality shock I could drop in for similar or lesser money? YEs, I'm really talking about modding a washing machine!
