As of today he has a permit to drive on our roads, heaven help us all.
Actually we drove around country roads for about an hour, he's learning and nervous but eager to master this skill.

Are you near Bowling Green? If so, take the kid through a Street Survival course at NCM:
Totally worth it, fun, and he'll emerge a more confident and capable driver.
Congrats!
+2 on Street Survival. The best part is the smiles on the kids faces at the end, it really is fun and they learn a lot of practical road skills. They participate in the car they bring to the event, so they learn about it's capabilities and shortcomings in real world conditions like short stops and tight wet corners.
Welcome mini-me!
Do not swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid rear ending someone and instead t bone someone else.
Also, burnouts don't impress cheerleaders.

Do not drive down the wrong side of a divided roadway through a heavily trafficed area.
Do not attempt to shoot across a 4 lane highway 50 feet in front of a car traveling at 55mph.
Do not attempt a high speed parking manuever into the trunk of a turning car in front of you.
