That's it. I'm selling the elky, buying a green mustang, and getting a neck tattoo. Thanks for the life changing and career ending inspiration!

When and where did you want it delivered?

I'll be standing in the crowd on the corner by cars and coffee this weekend. Just drive it over.

That and all the misspelled words. Seems like every "Angry Facebook Meme" has plenty of those.

I had no idea that anger was a central tenet of being a Christian. I am WWWAAAAYYYYYyyyyy to laid back to find Jesus! Thank God!

In that case, just become an Episcopalian. Most other denominations are positively certain Episcopalians are going straight to Hell.

Just thought I'd resurrect this because Mustang Man just showed up in the field across from my house . I was cleaning up stuff in the garage preparing to actually work on a car again, heard a V8 pull up to the stop sign. A couple of manly blips of the throttle for the kids across the street, and he was off.

As Mustang Man expertly lurched into motion, I heard some tire chirping, then some random small vegetation crunching sounds. He managed to put himself about 15-20ft into the field .

My first thought was 'Mustang Man!!! He's here!!'

Sadly, the phone was in the house, and he was able to self-extricate while I was laughing at him. Maybe warming up for an event tomorrow?

So, I bought a 2006 Mustang GT this weekend. This means I'm a meme now, right?

I think the issue here with the mustang is the steering angle. I know enough about drifting to know that if you have enough steering angle you pretty much can't spin out. Don't believe me? Look up "reverse entry drifting"

Another point is that they aren't drifting, they're doing burnouts. So getting sideways, for them, is entirely due to wheelspin and not any inertial forces. This is less stable because "wheelspin" is something easily changed.

Another factor is that, for the people who DO "drift" by just doing a massive showy burnout, what keeps them stable is they get the tires smoking hot. Way past the point of best grip. So when they do let off the throttle, the tires are so greasy that they don't bite, they just sort of ooze back into line. A 2-3 second burnout is not going to get the tires into slimy mode, actually it will probably be just right for getting them heated into optimal grip. You can feel this in the burnout box at the dragstrip, after a few seconds the engine starts to load down as the grip increases...

So either by letting off the throttle, or not applying more throttle as the grip increases, they shoot off into whatever direction the car is pointed (because, as you note, they aren't bothering to turn the steering wheel) because they have no sideways inertial forces, just tirespin.

Just to play up the stereotype..

A customer had her 1966 Mustang in the shop today and I found a pair of these in the back:

Right, totally not a girly car.

Phew, I got out of my Mustang last year, before this meme started trending. Good thing, now I own an Evo X, and no one would accuse an Evo owner of being a douch...

...crap.
