I have one of these, a Duratrax Evader EXT2.4. It's quite a bit of fun, and I'm in the process of upgrading it. Here's what I've got so far.
HPI Firebolt 15T 540 Motor
Traxxas 7-cell NIMH battery
HiTec Nylon-geared Servo
Who else is into RCs?

After oldeskewltoy's post "Take a flight ..." earlier this week I can't stop watching the indoor helium-assisted A320 performance.
I have an old Tamiya Blackfoot but my real interest is in planes. I started out over 30 years ago and continue to play with them to this day. Technology has come a long way and the price has dropped right along with it. I just fly electric stuff now.
I have an ECX Ruckus i bought over the winter, I'm pretty new to the hobby myself. I did upgrade the steering servo after annihilating the stock one.
Ditch the old brushed motor setup when you get the chance and go brushless. Also make the switch to LiPo's, the run times you get with them are incredible.
I had an Evader about 5 years ago and I remember the plastic gear in the transmission being a weak link, they make a metal replacement, it's super cheap and a recommended upgrade.

Brushless is a bit out of my budget, but I could stretch to a LiPo. Which gear was the weak point, the idler gear?
Yeah the idler gear is the weak one. I stripped out the plastic one pretty fast playing in the yard with mine. If the ESC is LiPo ready definitely look into getting a couple if you can afford them. I like the GensAce over at hobbypartz.com cheap and are ROAR approved.
Man, I wish you guys would quit posting this stuff. I live WAY too close to the local R/C carpet/dirt tracks and accompanying hobby store.
Years ago.....
I gave up on it because I don't need to spend more money on things I don't need to pass my time with that sucks more money away from everything else I need to spend money on...
G_Body_Man wrote: ECX is a good brand. Is yours the 1/10 scale or the 1/18 scale model?
It's a 1/10 4wd, it takes prettty well to goofing off in my backyard.
Where'd that damn rc thread go? I have a laundry list of freaks and am about to buy 3 more heavily modified former tenants of mine back under the guise of giving them to my child.
I just ordered the parts I needed for my Evader. 2.5mm e-clips, and a camber link. The former cost $3, the latter $9. Let's hope I have this thing ready for next weekend.
In reply to Appleseed:
They're bad. They're not 'having your frame rail be not actually held together' bad, but they're bad.
I've gotten rid of most of my R/C stuff (including my Kyosho Raiders and my RC10DS, etc).
So does anyone need a couple of bodies?
And
Free to a GRM'er.
Yeah I was more curious about the chassis that it was meant for. T4, slash, losi, etc. Curious if I've got something I can fit to it, cause I like it. Come to think of it, pm me what you need for shipping. I like it. I'll make it fit my drift car.

If I lived near a good RC track Id dust off and repower my RC10 stuff. I won many many trophies with them years ago.
In reply to mndsm:
It was a universal body, it was meant to fit 1/10 scale offroad cars/trucks.
I had one on my Kyosho Raider buggy and I liked it.
The other one is a 1/10 Dodge Sidewinder prototype that I was going to put on my RC10DS, but never finished.

I won a bunch of trophies myself. The problem was I got REAL heavy into it and as anyone who tinkers with them will tell you it's like going down Alice's rabbit hole. I have enough problems keeping the race car going.

Heck, I have enough problems keeping my Cutlass going! Maybe that's why I'm just dipping my toe into RCs.
