The small cheap window AC unit that has been keeping the Grosh cold doesn't seem to be working.
Taking it apart and turning it on shows this. One very tiny cold spot.
Playing with it for a while and blowing out the coils and rocking it back and forth to try and encourage liquids to move got me this far. Still not good.
These cheap window units aren't exactly serviceable, but what can you guys tell me about the mode of failure and any potential fixes.
Along the same lines, with a window ac unit for a shop, can you exhaust it into a crawl space or does it have to be outside?
Mazdeuce, Tiny cold spot usually = out of refrigerant. Pitch it and buy another.
Dusterbd13, Dumping hot air into a crawl space probably isn't a good ideal. Mold would probably take over. You might look into portable units. They can be ducted to open air through a hose or metal ducting.
I agree, looks like its low on freon.
OK. New AC incoming. Thanks.

Seeing that makes me want to design a servicable diy a/c system out of car parts and a 120vac motor.

Strip it for scrap instead of dumping it.
Fan motor, compressor, coil, wiring and copper. Toss the rest.

That would probably be too small to be of any use anywhere.
