I was a Texas  Inspector. In Texas the front plate is required. Your new car purchased in Texas may not have a place to put one.

The frame is in a gray zone, you may have one. That does not cover the state. Now in  Texas you can go in nearly any auto parts store and get one that covers the state. WTF!

Mommy, what is a clutch?

Too much for a license plate frame but I saw a bumper sticker last month that said something like "This car in a stick shift and we're stopped on an uphill incline, are you sure you want to be stopped close enough to read this?" 

I went with one of these on my truck.
