I'm sitting in my car listening to XM Radio and they have announced that the service is free this holiday travel season.
This means that if you have a car that is XM equipped but you are not paying for it, your XM will work right now for a few more days.
60 free channels for 2 weeks
XM is awesome for road trips.
BTW, if you sign up with them, you should be able to get a promotional price of $25 for 6 months. Might have to ask a few times, but they have it.
Then, in six months, cancel the service. They will offer you a promotional price of $25 for 6 months. They may start higher and keep sweetening the offer as you decline, but they'll get there.
Repeat.

I rarely turn the radio on at all, so I never cared when my free trial ended.
But okay, it's free, let me turn this thing on.
It's actually worse than ever, I don't know what sort of DAC they're using, or how much they're compressing it, but it's virtually unlistenable as music. Then they try to fix it with a horrible equalization curve.
Maybe if you want to listen to talk radio or sportsball games, it's fine, but certainly not for music.
And for the record, I listened in my '13 Sonic and SWMBOs '10 Accord, and it's horrible either way, so it's not just the system in my car.
They should pay ME for the subscription.
Well it works in the Focus, but the damn thing has to tell me every time I change the channel or turn the car on, that I don't have a subscription.

I've done that for a few years. Tell them a week after to take your credit card off your file so that it does not renew at a higher price.
After not renewing they will call a lot and offer it.
Ended up getting two months free. I'll cancel again after.
I like local radio stations and xm seems a little repetitive but it's great for traveling.

I guess that's the cost of "free".

Thanks for posting this! I'll be doing 1000 miles in the next couple of days & the Tahoe is equipped with a factory satellite radio. Tried it on the drive to work today and free is good...
