Apparently I'm merely human... I can only turn 52.5s... I can do a lot of them though.
Also, I've been doing research and I figured out our issues with the AI. SMS wanted it to make it realistic, so they hired Siemens to build real world AI that they could then put in the game....
OK, reticulating ball steering can be bad, but not THAT bad.
It is a great PC2 AI simulation though.
I've got to pick up my in-laws at the airport today and today is the 2nd day in the Alps at the Tour de France, so I didn't get in my usual Wednesday morning practice race while drinking my coffee before starting work. Looking forward to tonight's race.
Ran a good mock race last night with Argo an Brad. Finally got some miles on my revised setup. Not the fastest but extremely consistent. I was turning my fastest laps at the end with the help of brake bias adjustments as the track heats up.
I just realized between work travel and weekend plans, I won't get a chance to practice Long Beach until Monday.
Not the race I was hoping for last night, but it was fun. Brad did a great job holding on to 4th under lots of pressure.
In reply to T.J. :
I drove my mirrors last night more than any other race I could remember. You and Air were faster but you kept letting me hang around.
What was really good about last nights race is that we all left each other room to race. There were a few bumps, but they were incidental. I tried to be as difficult as possible to pass without outright blocking. The biggest difference in pace seemed that you two could carry more speed on corner entry. So, I would put my car were you couldn’t use that to get a run through the corner. I wanted you to go the long way around and took my chances on accelerating out of the corner. There were a couple times you made it by, but gave it back.
Not my best effort. I got off the line badly as I skip shifted into 3rd. The breaks went my way on the first lap as I moved up into 4th. In the last corner I tried to hold the tight inside line but realized that I was carrying too much speed to miss Dean coming back in to the apex. At least I got the worst of it.
After that it was just trying to catch back up. Almost flipped with an encounter with a Ferrari. That set me back again. Pressed hard and caught up to the Air and all battle with 5 mins remaining...then dropped a wheel in the grass. Then ran out of gas on the last lap.
I am certain that none of these issues will repeat at Long Beach. I will be out of town and miss it.
I made some laps at Long Beach and it is going to be interesting. There are some passing places but it really is going to be a case of getting out of the corner faster than the other guy and getting next to them. It is going to take a lot of give and take to keep from ending up in a big pile of smoking metal with the rest of the field piling on in.
So... do whatever you need to do... whatever... to get in FRONT of Brad at the start.... lest you stare at his bumper for the whole race!

Listen.... Miss Daisy doesn’t like to go fast around the corners.
I suspect I may be even slower this week. $200 off a G29 was too tempting on Prime Day, so I upgraded from my cheap-o Thrustmaster. Now, I have to learn how to drive all over again.
I ran a few laps just to test it. The G29 feels great. Where I'm struggling is with the pedals. Specifically the brake pedal. It has about 1" of travel and then you have to press into a stopper or some form of resistance for the remaining 30% of braking capacity. I ran about 10 laps and was never consistent with it, that and I would occasionally hit the clutch pedal instead. Side note, clutch is not a good substitute for braking.
Eventually, I gave up and switched to use the clutch pedal for brakes in game and that was much better. A lot more travel, a lot more consistent, but still a long way to go. I ended up running a 1:32.000. I'm guessing that means 27s are on the table for some of you.
Lots of mods out there for Logitech pedals to increase the feel. I don't like their wheels or pedals after my previous Fanatec setup.
That's why I'm still watching/looking in because I'm saving up for the Fanatec stuff I want.
I did the heavier spring mods to my Logitech pedals. Definitely helps. The stock ones seem to be setup to usable for a kid.
I'm using G27 pedals with a G29 wheel. I have the G29 pedals, just didn't want to spend the 30 mins to swap them out of my rig.
Do you guys actually use the brake pedal or have you swapped to the clutch pedal?
I’m trying to decide if it’s even worth trying to learn it or just use the clutch that is closer to my previous setup.

I use the brake peddle. There are some in game settings that help things a bit.

Dean,
What did you get that makes you suspect that my email was compromised?
An email from you with no subject and only this link in it
