EA (ugh) has a new WRC/Dirt game coming out that they apparently didn't restrain codemasters too much during development of. The new Forza seems promising for a series that had started to go wayward since Mexico. Should I be considering getting the lastest verison of an Xbox at some point over the winter?
Or should I actually go proper gaming PC for the tandem?

I don't trust EA for nothin'. They'll find a way to berkeley it up. That being said it's not a bad time to be a console gamer.
I've been tempted to start getting into console gaming. Then again, I need to drop a few things in life for me to find the time. However, I'm looking forward to being convinced to go gaming again.
In reply to J.A. Ackley :
That sounds exactly how I kind of feel. I don't know where I would find the time to get back into it, baseball season wrapping up over the next 6 weeks would probably help. Shorter days and longer nights will probably help. I suspect it'd be a fling that last until February/March and I'd be okay with that.

It's never been a better time to be a console gamer. Between PS+ and Xbox Gamepass (same concept, different box) you have access to try hundreds of games for your given console for a low monthly price, or a one time yearly price. Think netflix for games. I have both because I'm an idiot- but I also have four gaming consoles plugged into two TVs in my living room.
Both consoles also offer the the additional benefit of serving as halfway decent media centers if you don't already own something to do the job or have a smart TV ( and christ i wish i didn't have a smart TV).
There's a lot of cool new stuff out, lots of cool retro E36 M3 out, lots of E36 M3ty people out, time to stay inside and vibe out. It's friday night, get a 2 liter bottle of shasta, and your all rush mixtape.
