Is this a DIY piece?
Lets say i wanted a particular bike (non harley) and i wanted a crazy front end. I need a wider area between the forks so a more spread out triple tree would give me that.
Can i take the stock pieces to a machine shop and have em duplicate it but with additional width built into it? Would it have to be thicker for strength? What material could be used?
Lotsa questions but i need some brain storming and outside input.
If you can help i am all ears
Thanks

Absolutely but its going to run a large chunk of change relatively speaking to have custom ones made.

Swaps are done all the time. I've seen GSXR front ends on honda CB's from the 70's. Find a set up you like then see if there are bearings to fit the head stock if not have the stem pressed out and machined to fit.
There are several companys who make realy nice tripple tree set ups.
Best one i've seen and used is Weiss Racing. Bob Weiss is a great builder and racer. His clamps come with offset bushings so you can tune the front end to work with the condictions that day.

i hear ya 44dwarf, however what if i wanted to run a 5 inch wheel in front and rear instead of the usual 3.5".
Say you wanted to run a 180 front and rear tire with equal sized rims.....
Whoever made the original triple tree has two hands and can read; no reason you can't do it too.

Have a look around custom fighters, lots of machinists building triples; both members and advertisers:
