Car dealer by my work has been sitting on an 08 Ninja 250 with 2500 miles for several months. Sign on street has it listed at $2450, cl ad for $2000. I've been thinking of getting a low buck commuter for school and what not, should I offer $1500 cash since they have been sitting on it for some time? Way off or in the ballpark?

1800 - 2k sounds about fair market - they don't depreciate all that much
1800 would be a steal. nice bikes. buy it
1800 would be cheap out here. 2K sounds like a deal, your not going to loose your shirt on the 250R, especially at this price.

Original list price was $3499:

A grand off for a low-mileage bike is OK; the $2000 CL price is a darn sight better. You can't lose by offering $1500, but don't be surprised if it's rejected. With winter rapidly approaching, the dealer may be desperate to get it off the lot, or willing to sit on it til spring and get closer to the full asking price.
Go for it!
Yeah, out here CL asking prices for an '08 are more like $3k-3500. Major revision between the '07 and '08 250 makes the later bike much more desirable.
The resale on 250s out here is high enough that I'm actually considering just buying a new one. Extra grand for zero miles, no DPO, a warranty, and financing? Yes, please.

Like Oldsaw said, $1500 might get rejected, but it's worth a try, You can always go up a little and walk-leaving your number. Give it a week and check back. Around here, $2K would be a steal-even with the snow coming soon.
Louisville seems to be the place for Cheap 250s. There's another 2008 for $2000
