What’s the longest you’ve owned a car? A few months? A couple of years? When it comes to this 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, however, its previous owner cared for the car for nearly 50 years.

One of only 458 “Super Sport” models said to have been produced, this 6C especially unique in that its previous owner cared for the car for almost 50 years, having purchased it in the mid-1950s while serving in the Army in France.

Following that stint, the Alfa Romeo was sold to the current consigning owner who sent to car to Italy for restoration. The work took eight years to complete, and was “performed to an exceptional level involving consulting experts from around the world covering all aspects and details of the car.”

Finished in dark green over a matching green interior, this 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 is available through Fantasy Junction for $975,000.

What's the longest I've owned a car? I've owned my MGA since 1970, 51 years and still working on it!

I applaud you. Granted I'm in my mid-20s, but holding onto a car that long sounds like it could be surprisingly challenging.

I guess if you like something enough, you'll never get rid of it.

I will celebrate my relationship with my 1949 MG TC with a 50 year anniversary party at the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival (www.LGGPR.org) in October, 2022.  I still run it at Lake Garnett.

We're comming up on 55 years.  A highschool graduation present in 1966.  A 1965 MGB Roadster in Primrose Yellow.  Cool in '66 now a head turner on the Oregon Coast.  My son and I have spent don't know how many hours rebulding the engine, renewed or replaced most every thing over the years.  He has a '71 MGB Roadster.  Great Fun!

This is actually my third MGA; I bought my first in 1966 and my second in 1968. I've hung onto this one.

Hey - I bought my MGA in 1970 as well and still own it.  I also own several cars that I acquired in the 1970s.  We keep the ones we really like!

In the mid 1970's I brought back from the UK a 1947 Alfa 6C2500 Super Sports coupe the double of this car in orange with a black top.  Mine was one of 4 produced that year from mostly pre-war components. It had a floor shift and 19" wheels. While living in England, it was fitted with 3 SU carbs in place of the Weber's.  I sold it to someone in New England and think it may have been sold at auction about three years ago at Amilia Island painted gray.

Lastly, I still own my first car, an Auto Red Bug after buying it for $20 from behind a garage in Bay Village, Ohio 66 years ago.

I'm boring--just 23 years with our '92 Miata. But it's a keeper.
