Can't wait to get the TR8 on the track. Does the Kastner Cup include the wedges or is it just for the older stuff?
The Kastner Cup is awarded to one Triumph racer each year. It’s presented to the winner of a single one-make race which moves to a new track every year. This year, they’ll be hitting Summit Point Motorsports Park during the Jefferson 500 on May 14-17.
Are you a Triumph owner in the Mid-Atlantic region? You will probably want to make it to this one.

To be honest, I'm not sure. If you click the link to the Kastner Cup page, scroll to the bottom and theres a video. I'm pretty sure I see a TR7 drive by. So my instinct would be yes. But it's probably worth an email to find out for sure.
Forgot about that. It was Peter Bulkowski's racer that he raced back in the day in IMSA and restored for vintage. Unfortunately he recently sold the car and its now being raced in Germany.
Qualifying for that K-Cup took place in the rain. All the fast folks stayed in but I was having some carb problems so I went out for some testing more or less. When we gridded for the K-Cup race I found myself near the front. Oh crap! That TR8 passed me on the Road America front straight like I was sitting still, and close enough that I could have reached out and touched him as he blew past. Side note, I have the exhaust note from that car as one of the ringers on my cell phone. :)
In reply to Marty:
I know Peter Bulkowski quite well when I raced a FP Spitfire against his EP MGB in the early to mid 70's when we were young guys. He had some help/tech advice from Group 44 when building up that TR8 for IMSA but was still a privateer. To his credit that car finished every IMSA race it entered. Years later he found it derelict and restored it for vintage.
The car was purchased a couple years ago by Christian Marx, who previously raced a very nice TR4 in Europe. Look for his Nurburgring videos on YouTube ("Mad Marx"). I'd been watching him for years before he came over to buy the TR8 and share driving at Road America. So at least the car went to a worthy driver, although I hated to see it leave the country.
