Car Catcher: Championship-Winning Group 44 Jaguar XJS

During the 1978 Trans-Am season, Group 44 team boss Bob Tullius drove this 1978 Jaguar XJS to seven-consecutive wins, claiming the driver and manufacturer titles along the way.

Then he parked the car. Time to rest.

In 2007, Tullius finally sold the car to Jaguar collector Gary Bartlett.

The car was mechanically restored, yet the body remained untouched. The patina still remains.

The car will cross the block during RM Sotheby’s upcoming Amelia Island sale. No reserve has been posted, and the estimate is $200,000 to $300,000. So, any guesses as to the final selling price?

I remember it well.  Beautiful car, referred to it as "Thundering Elegance"   Picture taken at PIR many years ago.
