Just a few of the laurels of the Lotus Elite include six class wins at Le Mans, a drag coefficient of just .29, and a fiberglass monocoque chassis and body. This 1960 Lotus Elite is a Series 2 example, meaning it received a number of improvements over the Series 1 like upgraded brakes, close-ratio gearbox and twin carburetors.
Powered by a 1216cc Coventry Climax FWE engine, this Elite also features a few upgrades in the form of a stainless steel exhaust, Ford Type 9 five-speed transmission, twin SU carburetors and a Gustafson gear reduction starter.
Delivered new to California, the car underwent a full restoration starting in 2001 that included work performed by specialist Horst Auer in Germany. Most recently, in 2012, expert Randall Fehr sorted and road tested the car.
Available through Fantasy Junction, this 1960 Series 2 Lotus Elite comes finished in white over a black leather interior, and currently shows 47,654 miles on its odometer (though true mileage is unknown).
