The Fiat 1500 may represent a sensible classic Italian sedan, but Ghia had a much different idea in mind for the car's underpinnings. Starting by shortening the 1500 chassis, Ghia then tuned the engine and constructed an entirely new body.
This 1963 Ghia 1500 GT Coupe is one of those creations, and is noted as being one fo the few cars to ever be sold under the Ghia name.
According to the listing, only 800 of these 1500 GT coupes were reported to have been built, with an even fewer 36 said to have been brought into the United States.
The offer also points out that the car is in "older condition, with numerous bubbles, cracks and flaws visible in the paint and some rust visible on the sills and undercarriage." The engine compartment and interior are also noted to be in similar conditions.
As a potential "ideal basis for restoration," this 1500 GT is reported to have 35,041 miles on the odometer. Also included in the sale is a jack, spare tire and documents that include a selection of manuals, service books and maintenance receipts.
