Car Catcher: A Quintessential Q-Ship, the BMW M5

Fast, comfortable, understated. Can we call this 1991 BMW M5 a quintessential Q-ship? Yeah, let's make it so.

These cars can gobble up the miles and are quick for the day. BMW sent less than 2000 of these E34-chassis M5 sedans to the U.S. The regular sedans were a dime a dozen. These, though, offered something special, including a 340-horsepower inline-six paired with a manual box. Then add in handling by BMW’s M Division.

This one is now offered for $34,500 via eBay. The car is in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Hagerty says that a No. 3 car is worth $27,600.

The ad features some pretty photos (thank you) but not a ton of info, so here’s what we know about it: “1991 BMW M5 EURO Imported from Japan, OEM wheels, leather wrapped dashboard, fully restored”

Mileage is listed as 101k. This is a straight-up sale, too, and not an auction, so the clock is ticking. Find more details here.
