Who says electric cars have to be dull and boring? Rock West Racing is now offering an electric version of their fiberglass-bodied Speedster kit. Eight lithium ion battery packs manufactured by Tesla provide propulsion, and its maker says the complete car should weigh 1860 pounds and go up to 100 miles on a charge. Zero to 60 should take 5 to 6 seconds. The car won’t drive like an oversized golf cart, either, as the kit calls for a VW four-speed transmission.
The basic Builder Kit retails for $12,255, while a roller can be pur chased for $31,995. Add another $17,995 for the powertrain kit. Details: rockwestracing.com.
