Jaguar revealed its latest “physical manifestation” of its new design philosophy, Type 00. They titled the press release, “Unmistakable. Unexpected. Dramatic.” Well, perhaps that’s a good description.
You certainly cannot mistake it for a E-type. It’s nothing like its most recent F-type. And, it is a dramatic departure from anything Jaguar has produced in its 89-year history.
The looks of the Type 00 seems targeted against another storied British marque putting out luxury EVs, Rolls-Royce.
Jaguar plans to reveal its first new-generation production car, a four-door GT, in late 2025. It remains to be seen how much of Type 00 you will see in the roadgoing model, but it seems like Jaguar is starting with a clean sheet of paper for its latest line of vehicles.
What are your thoughts on Type 00? Would you add something like it to your collection?
I like it–a lot, actually. I'm eager to see how much of the concept makes it to production.
And, really, Jaguar needs to do something drastic. That 89-year history was doing little to help it sell cars.
Shouldn't the radiator grille be in the front?
In reply to ninostr6 :
On an EV, you really don't need a grille for any cooling, unless you're doing some heavy-duty performance. So, I guess you can put it anywhere ... or nowhere.
Here's more info on the rear design from Jaguar:
"The rear continues the bold statement. A glassless tailgate and panoramic body‑harmonized glazed roof create a sense of sculpture. The rear elevation is defined by distinctive horizontal Strikethrough graphics, which hide dramatic full‑width taillights and emphasise the power and scale of Type 00."
