“Magic of Monaco” opens at Audrain this Saturday

Most fans of motorsport have Monaco on their bucket list, whether it's the Monaco Grand Prix or the Monte Carlo Rally. Starting on Saturday, December 14, a bit of Monaco comes stateside to the Audrain Automobile Museum with “Magic of Monaco.”

The special exhibit features 18 significant cars along with period artifacts related to Monaco.

List of Cars Included:

  • 1927 Bugatti Type 37A – set the 100-kilometer record at Brooklands in the late 1920s
  • 1933 Alfa Romeo 2600 Monza – competed at the 1933 Tunisian Grand Prix and the 1934 Mille Miglia
  • 1935 Alfa Romeo 8C-35 (Tipo C) – piloted by 1932 Monaco Grand Prix winner Tazio Nuvolari
  • 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Two-light Ventoux – shown at the 1986 Concours d’Elegance Automobile Monte Carlo
  • 1953 Allard J2X – representative of many successful Allards of the period
  • 1954 Lancia B20 GT Series IV – formerly owned by Roger Werner, of ESPN, Speed and Motor Trend
  • 1956 Maserati 250 F – driven by Stirling Moss to victory in 1956 European Grand Prix at Monza and a sister car to the one he won with at the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix
  • 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing – preservation class car with just 12,000 miles
  • 1958 Porsche F2 – finished second in Formula 2 race behind Stirling Moss
  • 1959 Cooper Climax T51 – podiumed with Olivier Gendebien in the French Grand Prix
  • 1960 OSCA Tipo-J 1100 Formula Junior – imported into the U.S. by Luigi Chinetti
  • 1960 Lotus 18 Formula Jr. – placed fourth in Monaco in 1960
  • 1962 Stanguellini Formula Jr. – imported into USA by Briggs Cunningham
  • 1965 Lotus Cortina – representative of what ran during the 1966 Monte Carlo Rally
  • 1973 Renault Alpine A110 – representative of what ran during the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally and what won the WRC championship
  • 1985 Martini Lancia Delta S4 Corsa – representative of what won in Group B rally competiiton
  • 1988 McLaren Honda MP4/4 – Alain Prost drove this car to the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix win
  • 1997 Ferrari F310B – Michael Schumacher won Monaco with a sister car to this one
