Want to get out and have some fun this winter? The weather doesn’t have to stop you. SCCA’s Neohio region is hosting their 49th annual Ohio Winter Rally on February 7. It’s a straightforward time-speed-distance (TSD) road rally traversing the snowbelt counties of Lake Erie in northeastern Ohio.
This year, Ohio Winter Rally is the second round of the 2015 SCCA Great Lakes Division Rally Championship and counts also toward the SCCA’s National Touring Rally title. It will run from mid-afternoon to approximately 10 p.m. and will cover about 150 miles.
A final note from Greg Lester, one of the event organizers: “2016 will mark the 50th anniversary of the first Ohio Winter Rally. We want to dredge up some of the lore of OWR’s past and recognize those whose lapses of judgment have made the event so memorable. If you have any OWR memorabilia—entry lists, results, old ‘MG Messengers,’ etc.—or incriminating stories to share, that would be great. We want to identify the years, locations, and individuals involved in a variety of the rally’s mishaps so that we can visit the sites and marvel at their ingenuity.”
