At Morton Street Partners in New York, the special exhibition Winter Surf celebrates 1960s California design, which includes the iconic Meyers Manx of Steve McQueen. The car was featured in the 1968 film, The Thomas Crown Affair.
The curatorial project says, “The exhibition highlights the aesthetic appeal and cultural significance of the dune buggy as a symbol of rebellion and counterculture.”
Winter Surf also has a French off-road prototype known as “The Shake,” designed by Italian coachbuilder Bertone; a Citroën Méhari and a Bultaco motorcycle converted into a snowmobile.
The Winter Surf exhibition runs through January 28 at Morton Street Partners in the West Village at 16 Morton Street in New York, New York.
