Clutch Time

Fresh hydraulics for our clutch system will keep us from worrying as we enjoy the car on the road.

This bracket and slave cylinder worked perfectly.

Who doesn't like a nice beefy clutch?

Once bled, we had a perfect clutch solution with very little hassle.

We were in a hurry when it came time to install a clutch in our Shelby GT 350, but we wanted to make sure we only had to do the job once. To this end, we went with the old tried and true and picked a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch for the Ford engine. We have had good experiences with these clutches mated to several different small-block Fords.

The Ford crate engine though, with its taller Z heads, required custom headers that interfered with the stock Z-bar clutch linkage. We ordered a hydraulic master cylinder conversion kit from Modern Driveline and then a hydraulic slave cylinder kit from Cobra Restorers.

We braced the slave cylinder mounting kit to make it stronger and then much to our surprise and glee, everything fit together. Once bled, we had a perfect clutch solution with very little hassle.
