How to prepare for a Radwood event | Project Porsche 911 Carrera

How to get ready for this weekend’s Radwood?

Yup, clean, clean and then clean some more.

To get our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera ready for this Friday’s Radwood show in Lakeland, Florida, we’ve basically been following Tim McNair’s one-hour regimen–but spending more time on the details so that we now have a few days in the process.

The TL;DR: Since we compounded the car for this spring’s Radwood at The Amelia, we skipped that step and started with quick detail followed by the synthetic clay pad–two passes with the pad.

Then we applied a few coats of Griot’s Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax. For nearly 40-year-old paint, the reflection is pretty good.

We again used SD-20 for the rubber–our tires now look black and natural.

Those giant detail swabs are perfect for cleaning around the grille, while we used Griot’s Rubber & Vinyl Dressing and Leather 3-in-1 where appropriate.

And, really, none of this is difficult. It just takes the time.
