Sorta related, but Radwood’s coming up.
Which bike this year? The retro Skyway? My old MCS? My ’79 Team Mongoose? Something else?

Hangar party.
Those two words often conjure up images of the beautiful set: exotic cars, fine fare and people in the know. It’s a place where status rules.
And, somehow, we got invited to one hosted by Hagerty during the recent IMSA weekend at Daytona International Speedway.
"Did we want to show a car?" our hosts asked.
Of course. We’ll bring our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera.
We knew we wouldn’t have the fastest, rarest or most exotic car, but maybe we could still be the center of the party.
Step 1: Our one-hour detail prep with a Griot’s Clay pad followed by its Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax. Since we were out of SD-20, we cleaned the tires and rubber bits with some Griot’s Rubber Cleaner–the orange liquid in the squirt bottle. We also cleaned the glass, vacuumed the interior, and took a few minutes to wipe down the wheels with some quick detail.

Step 2: We again put a period-correct BMX bike up on the roof, this time grabbing our retro Skyway T/A. While it’s technically not from the ’80s, it more or less replicates a bike from that period. Plus we like the colorway.
Step 3: We arrived early with hopes that we could score a prime parking sport–which we did, placing our Porsche 911 front and center, right beside one of the jets on display.
How’d it go? The Porsche–maybe due to the bike, maybe due to its approachableness–welcomed smiling visitors throughout the evening.
The lesson here? Perhaps preparation and presentation still matter.
