It’s bright red… almost like “hunter safety orange”! Among the last of the “real” +fours, which started in 1950 and lasted till Triumph discontinued it’s venerable wet-liner 4-cylinder motor. Well, longer actually, as Triumph ended it in 1967, and Morgan continued through the end of 1968 when all the splare engines were used up! Its early history is still a mystery to me. It has tags under the bonnet in Japanese, yet it is LHD. There are lots of non-original electrical things, like some sort of transponder, that I don’t get (yet). It’s got the optional 72-spoke wheels, the obligatory leather bonnet strap, and a beautifully integrated steel bonnet scoop that allows room for air filters on the carbs (no, Morgans came without air filters). Its previous owner had it for 6 years and put just under 200 miles on it, mostly in the first year. He said he only filled the tank once, and I drained over 10 gallons of old gas out of the 11 gal. tank. So, fresh gas, oil change, brakes bled, some minor fettling, and now it’s a hoot to drive! It may be a decade newer than my TR3 but the driving experience is more akin to something from the ‘30s. And it’s not tailer made for someone my size, being about 6‘4” with size 13 feet. Footwear selection is critical for proper pedal operation… I may be cutting 3/4” off the side of the brake pedal so my right foot doesn’t snag it while working the gas pedal. I’ll get a photo or 2 up when I can.
