I’ve known this car, and its previous owner, for the past 20 years. In the summer of 2010, it seems that everyone I knew had a life-changing event: I lost my wife of 31 years, most of my friends were splitting up, and the world was just slipping away. And I had the chance to buy this car. I picked it up immediately before Concorso Italiano in August 2010, showed it with the other Ferraris, and then drove home from Monterey, California to Portland, Oregon. In August. Up the central valley of California. In 110-degree heat. I am planning a lot of activities for 2011, including vintage rallies, shows, and just tooling around. It’s incredible to find myself, as a lifelong car nut, owning a vintage Ferrari, and in the immortal words of Adrian (Tony Shalhoub) Monk, “It’s a gift… and a curse.”
