I’ve heard all about the wonders of The Amelia, but now I get to experience it first-hand. Here are four things I’m looking forward to.

I’m not just saying this because I work here–I have always wanted to attend Concours d’Lemons and, as a bonus, it’s now part of our Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff. I am looking forward to meeting other readers and, of course, their cars, such as Robert Ballard’s 1965 Shelby GT350 and Richard King’s 1980 International Harvester Scout II. Even though the cars are what caught my attention thanks my love for Shelbys and old SUVs, I’m most excited about learning the history behind them from their owners.

Ever since attending Mecum Kissimmee, I’ve been bitten by the auction bug. I’ll sadly be missing the Gooding & Company auction, but I’ll be at the Broad Arrow auction. It features more than 100 exceptional cars, ranging from prewar American to supercars to motorsport icons like the 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo Cup “Dicom.” This auction is just what I need for my next auction fix.
Saturday’s seminar, “Best of 30 Years of The Amelia,” piqued my interest. Since joining the Classic Motorsports staff, I have been able to speak to many legendary drivers and motorsports leaders. Any opportunity to hear from more is right up my alley.
This seminar has an exceptional lineup of speakers including, but not limited to, inspirational women racer and advocate, Lyn St. James and team owner of one of my favorite teams, Chip Ganassi. Although the discussion topics haven’t been posted, according to The Amelia website, this event is one of the “not to be missed” portions of the weekend. So, I personally don’t plan on missing a single second.

I’m no stranger to car shows, but the opportunity to explore over 300 exceptional, rare and concours level vehicles in Saturday’s Cars & Community, not just personally but also professionally, is something I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing just yet. Also, a raddest dressed award in Radwood? Sign me up.
