A Ferrari fit for royalty: Prince Albert of Monaco’s 308 GTS

Some cars are fit for royalty and this Ferrari 308 GTS stands fit for a prince–specifically, Prince Albert of Monaco.

This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS, presented in the unique combination of Bianco Polo over a Pelle Blu interior, sports all the features that made the 308 GTS one of Ferrari’s best-selling models: the wedge design, the Targa-style top and, of course, the “Magnum, P.I.” connection.

According to an evaluation done by marque expert Guillaume Cognet, a previous registration card records Prince Albert of Monaco as an owner of this Ferrari. After an exchange of hands, the Ferrari became part of Marcel Petitjean prominent car collection for almost 40 years before being bought in 2022.

This Ferrari, accompanied by the owner’s guides, a tool roll, jack and spare tire, does require recommissioning before being driven due to being a static display piece for most of its life.

Find this 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS for auction on December 1 by RM Sotheby’s with an estimated value of $70,000 to $80,000.

Prince Albert II may know a thing or two about speed. He competed in bobsled competition for Monaco for five straight Olympics.
