What makes a car worthy of being on the cover of a major magazine? It needs to pop. Ferrari made 387 examples of the 365 GT4 BB. Of those, just 38 came in Giallo Fly (yellow). That color certainly pops, and because of that this particular 365 GT4 BB graced the cover of the November 1976 issue of Car and Driver.
The BB was never sold new in the U.S., but enthusiasts imported the model and started driving the car once they equipped it with the federally required safety and emissions equipment. That topic was the cover story for the issue this car appears in Car and Driver. The cover’s sell line? “Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer: Legal at Last!” The EPA’s Dr. Norman D. Shutler discussed what it took to legalize the BB.
Nowadays, the Ferrari resembles more of its original European spec, including the front and rear valences and Cromodora five-spoke alloy wheels. However, if you wish to return it to its American spec, those energy-absorbing bumpers do come with the sale.
Find this 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB for auction at Broad Arrow Auctions, with an estimated value of $325,000-$375,000.
