A classic with a little zest? Something that’s kind of a big peel? Okay, I know the those are corny–but orange you glad I didn’t say banana?
All jokes aside, why is this Aston Martin so … orange? It has to do with Hermès, the French luxury fashion brand. Hermès has a long history with the color orange and has become synonymous with it today.
A previous owner of this Aston Martin, a high-ranking government official in the Middle East, loved the brand so much that they had the car repainted and reupholstered from its original Cairngorm Brown over Olive interior to its current Orange over Orange colorway. The owner also had the car reconfigured from right-hand drive to left-hand drive.
While that means this Aston Martin isn’t the most original on the market, it’s still one of only 289 Series 2 models produced.
Shortly after it was acquired by the current owner in 2022, the car was restored by Le Clos de Calatrava in collaboration with Aston Martin Works UK.
Find this 1972 Aston Martin V8 for auction at Bonhams | Cars with an estimated value of $130,000-$180,000.
