Group B rally cars have seen a resurgence of interest, and this Audi Sport Quattro S1 is a great example from that era. It was driven to multiple wins by 1983 World Rally Championship winner Hannu Mikkola.

With this Audi, Mikkola won two events in 1986, the International Welsh Rally and the National Breakdown Rally.

Allan McNish, a three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, tested the Audi at Silverstone in 2009. Here’s what he told The Sunday Times: “As soon as the turbo kicks in, you’ve got this massive noise and the car absolutely blasts forward. I mean, I expected it to have strong acceleration because of the gearing, but I didn’t expect it to have that acceleration. I thought it was going to be more progressive, but it was zero and then absolutely everything.”

Find this 1984/85 Audi Sport Quattro S1 Group B Rally Car up for auction at Bonhams, with an estimated winning bid of £1,200,000-£1,400,000 (approximately $1,527,120-$1,781,640).
