How to make its Giulietta Sprint Veloce even quicker for competition? Alfa Romeo made the car as light as possible: The doors, hood, decklid, bumpers, oil pan, and intake manifold were swapped for ones made out of lighter alloys, the glass roll-up windows were replaced with sliding plexiglass, the rear seats and sound deadening were removed, and lighter front bucket seats were fitted in place of the original ones.
The result was the Giulietta Sprint Veloce “Alleggerita,” (direct translation: “Lightened”) of which, only 100-200 were built by the factory.
Noting the “high level of mechanical and cosmetic confidence,” the seller says the Giulietta is well-suited for entry into several pre-1957 rally events.
