This 1995 Mazda RX-7 SP was only offered to the Australian market, and just 25 were made in total.
When Mazda Australia wanted to homologate a revised model of the RX-7 for the 1995 Eastern Creek 12-Hour race, they released the SP. A total of 25 were built for the road and the remaining four were for racing. The SP would go on to win the Eastern Creek 12-Hour, even beating a Porsche 993.
Mazda made 120 modifications over the standard RX-7 to create the SP. Among them included a dramatic wing, a significant weight reduction to 2685 pounds and upping the horsepower to 273.
