Just 106 examples were built of the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport. One of them, though, was owned by Phil Hill, the American who won the 1961 Formula 1 championship.
Hill had just started with Ferrari, the team he won that championship with, when he bought this Alfa Romeo. He must have liked it. Hill owned the car for 30 years.
It underwent a sympathetic restoration from 2003 to 2004. There are more than 80 pages of invoices and worksheets documenting the work, with costs exceeding $45,000.
Find this 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Spider by Zagato for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of $2,350,000-$2,850,000.
