Porsche 908/02: An icon goes up for auction

Big names, big tracks and even a movie appearance make this 1969 Porsche 908/02 Langheck Flunder Spyder one special race car.

The big names that have sat in its driver’s seat include Vic Elford, Richard Attwood, Dr. Helmut Marko, Gérard Larrousse and Rudi Lins. With Marko and Lins behind the wheel, this 908 won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970.

Le Mans wasn’t the only legendary track that this Porsche icon competed at as it also raced at Nürburgring, Spa, Sebring. The Porsche even made an appearance in the 1971 film “Le Mans.”
