The only operable Ford Mustang Daytona Concept

This Ford Mustang Daytona Concept is a vision of what could have been for the Fox-body Mustang. They made just five examples, and this is the only one that received the full treatment–and the only operable version.

Cars and Concepts built the car for Ford. They gave it a T top (not an option until 1981), along with their own interior and a one-piece smoked grille panel with 1979 Lincoln Versailles headlights.

Obviously, this Mustang presents well. Ford displayed this very car in its booth at the 1979 New York, Chicago and Detroit auto shows. It also was used as the pace car for the 1979 road course events at Daytona. After that, The Henry Ford had the Mustang for two decades. It most recently won an Award of Distinction at the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance last year.

Find this 1979 Ford Mustang Daytona Concept for auction at Mecum, with an estimated value of $80,000-$100,000.
