I just put our Group 44 TR8 Challenge car on eBay. The starting price is $2,000, but cross your fingers that it sells for a lot more. We need to fund our next build. :)

Maybe that's counting the $1000 recoup. With that, the value of what's on the car at the challenge is really more like $3000.
Completely within the rules. Kumhos don't count against the budget, safety items don't count against the budget...etc. was a very Sharp looking car. GLWS

I hope the reserve price is less than $2013 or this ad is a canoe.
Sorry, them's the rules.
Edit: After reading the ad did you fudge your entry?
"There is a reserve on this auction. Let’s just say that if you buy the car for the reserve price you got all 1,150 hours of our labor for Free."
also, just beacause a car is built for less than $2013, doesn't mean it's worth less than that. I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for several thousand over what it cost to build, seeing the kind of work that went into it and how awesome it is.

I propose a new Challenge rule:
"Anyone who has not competed at the Challenge is not allowed to post negative budget questions. Failure to follow this will lead to becoming patio bait on the GRM forum."
Flight Service, I see a lot of cars in your profile, but I don't see any Challengers. Don't know if you've made it or not. No offense, but the car was legal according to the rules, and never challenged by any competitor.
One of Andy Nelson's Challenge cars (which I read the build book and completely believe his budget) was appraised after the Challenge for $16,000. Challenge budget and value are significantly different.
I get the point about the reserve, but you are nit-picking. At the moment, the price is within the guidelines of this classified section. Perhaps his reserve is higher. Chalk another one up to creative budgeting (which I am OK with).

This^
The Wartburg falls within the rules of GRM and Lemons. Does that mean I'd sell it for $2000. Not just no, hell no. The asking price is around $6000 and that's a bargain based on the number of hours I have into it.
Bottom line if you have the time and skills you can build these cars cheap. But only if your time and skills are worth nothing to you should you sell them cheap.

So cutter, it's yours now?
That car was very very nice. I would love it if I had the money.

Best of luck on the sale...if it goes below $6k, someone is getting a total steal in my opinion. I've seen it up close two years in a row now and it's an absolutely awesome piece of work.
4k and 8 days left... I have faith it will get to 6k, hopefully double that. still have the last minute shenanigans to go!.
Our Reserve was $5,999, and it hit it. Colour me surprised.
We decided that if it did not hit the reserve, we would put in a LSD and drive the snot out of it.
The Blue thing used to be a very heavy rear bumper that I cut up with my plazma cutter. The factory front bumper was a little over 60 pounds when I started. I think I got it down to 27 pounds (minus the fog lights).
+1 on the proposed challenge rule
When I first saw the Nelson's Fiat I thought it was a $30,000 show car. Not that he had spent that much, but that it was worth that much.
good luck with the sale man. i wish i had more time last month to really check out every detail in person since it's such a pretty car, especially seeing the build and interior pics.
