Gauge panel could match grille, to tie interior to exterior. I don't recall my previous bumper and grille color recommendations, but I'm sure they were right.

If the grill is some sort of satin gunmetal, there's no way the gauge panel is that. It's either body color or black.
Too many choices!
This guy, I think, has the tach and quad switched. I also don't love the two digit numbers in the tach.
I've spent my fleeting spare time in the past two weeks aligning the grill and headlight bezels.
The bezels and grill will be white. Still considering the bumper.
I'm nearly ready to think about exhaust. I want to bring one bank over to the other and bring them parallel with an X pipe and out the side, either together or apart. Anyone know a real muffler sound comparison site? I like the Hooker Aerochamber right now.
Hello Everyone, Tuna Kid 1 here. Today I along with assistance from a glass guy (It was mainly me assisting and him doing it) successfully installed the windshield on my Dads 72 GMC Truck. Here are some photos:
Those pics made my day.
So, for those who need to know....What was the trick to getting this windshield in?
From the reports I heard:
I did have the seal inside out
He started at the bottom but then gave up and moved to the top, it took him about an hour.
Apparently my seal was quite tight, much different than the ones he was used to.
He needed the help of tunakid1, at least from his report, more than the kid lets on.
Based on an expert taking an hour, and me getting the seal wrong, I'm glad I paid the money. It's in!
Also today marks the first time that someone worked on the truck that wasn't myself or my son or my daughter since 2007. It feels weird.

Lots of pressure, also some solid taps to help fit the seal better. flexes the seal to kind of stick in place. Also keeping pressure on it was important.
Congrats!
I broken one windshield learning how to install it.
No glass shops here touch the wrap-around-windshield like my '61 has.
Congrats, indeed!
Paint arriving tomorrow for the bumpers, grill, headlight surrounds and door panels.
Enough playing around, I'm just going to paint them all some color and let it ride. I can always do it again better later.
I have one undecided thing regarding painting. I need -your- help.
The glovebox door will be yellow, as will the door panels. The steering wheel will be black as will the steering column. The gauges will be whiteface.
The gauge cluster bezel is black.
Should it stay black? It can also be yellow. Some trims had body color bezels. It could be yellow.

Congrats on the milestone !
I know the feeling about letting someone else work on your ride. I haven't paid anyone else to touch my cars (other than tires and alignments) in over 20 years.
Also, another vote for Black.
Congrats on the window and even finding someone who would show up and do the job. I had to learn to do this the first time because such a person ceased to exist in my world. And I have broken one because it happens.
I seem to recall that the last guy I met who hired out for this kind of work wanted $200 for a no guarantee of breakage and like $400 for putting the responsibility on his plate. For what takes about one hour.
Is the truck mobile at this point or where is that side of the project?
The truck is indeed completely mobile. It goes, stops, turns, with lights and blinkers.
I've had some time to do boring work. I've readjusted the passenger side fender and finished that. I installed black seat belts on both sides.
The temporary booth is up waiting on humidity. Inside are the door panels, glovebox door, bumpers, bezel, and based on time and space, I'll have to postpone the grill and gate for another opportunity.
I'm waiting on my budget to recover from vacation spending for June before buying wheels and tires and gauges. That's all that's left.
Sorry I forgot exhaust. I'm saving that too. Right now it has the pipes which bring the manifolds to horizontal, and then that's it.
