Okay, a Turbo/EFI, 200 inch Ford straight six, autocross Locost 7 inspired ... Model A Ford roadster pickup?
Yeah... Right.
No, really! This was yesterday:
Today I made mounts for the wishbones and tacked them in, so the front is starting to get ironed out.
I started on this about three weeks ago (late October 2019). I'm mostly playing by ear, but trying to plan things out as best as I can.
My goal is an alternative universe mid-1950s build, where Avengers/Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. meet Kelly Johnson (Lockheed/U2/SR71) /meets Frank Kurtis/ meets Chip Foose/ meets Carol Shelby (hey - I've been planning this since long before hearing about Ford v Ferrari, so lay off!)/ who meet... Me, after I returned from WW2 and my years in the Army, and then OSS - with Henry Jones, Jr.... . Anyway - I'm playing fast and loose with our reality, but trying to keep the overall, '50-foot' view reasonably close.
I bought a 1976 Ford Maverick on Craigslist, and pulled out the engine, C4 automatic, and 2.79 geared 8-inch rear axle. Ordered a few things from Speedway, and a few more from eBay, and stopped by the local steel yard. Set up plywood on sawhorses, and went to town...

OK, I'm missing five pictures and a few paragraphs... What's up?
I don't know but I'm interested in seeing and reading more.
Intercooler lower mounts
Starting to mock up drivetrain
Ebay Intercooler and '60s Ford Falcon/Mustang radiator.
Drilling grill shell for IC...
Love it. This is gonna be cool.
IC mounts behind grill shell
Ebay stainless headers...
This one is a little too big, but a surplus ammo can will cover the brake master cylinder
Whoa. This is gonna be awesome!

In for turbo 200" goodness; misery loves company after all!
In reply to gumby :
Hah! I was just reading your comments on the 200 for sale in the classifieds!

Looking at your pics, are you sure that isn't a 250" engine? 3 or 4 water pump bolts?
In reply to gumby :
3 bolts. The entire car was a pristine, one-owner car - until the nephew wrapped it around a telephone pole... No rust anywhere. Stickers all still in place... It says its a 200, and it's a high starter...

Very good then, carry on!
Are you going to twist those eBay headers into a single collector, or remote mount the turbo?

IDK about the paragraphs, but even though your phone / camera will allow you to select more than one pic to upload, the board will only accept one pic at a time.
more importantly:
1. thank you for your service.
2. thank you for sharing this project!
200 so smooth. I keep trying to get my dad to sell me the Zephyr back and 90% is just for that thrift six.
Don't know what kindof brain damage...
:)
In the interest of transparency, I have a 200 inch from a 70 Maverick I wrecked in 1979. At the time, I bored it .030, TRW forged pistons, took about .060 off the head, and never started it. Still in the shed in SoCal. In the intervening years, exposure to phantom rays has further degraded my mind. Since that time acquired Classic inline head, and a bank of six motorbike carbs. waiting for me to get it together
Forum Member Mustang Six on fordsix.com, mgexperience.com, and possible this forum built a Ozzie crossflow headed US 200 engined locost maybe 10-15 years ago may be a resource
Edit-
Just saw the solid front axle. May want to consider what Chapman did on the Lotus 6 and split the axle so each side pivots in almost the center to provide n independent front suspension
Looking forward to how this pans out. I've wanted to do something similar for quite some time after watching this Model T built in a similar fashion: CLICK HERE

I've been reading that forum for a while, but hadn't seen that one - thanks!
In reply to twentyover :
I've read a bunch of your stuff on F6 - if you want to get rid of your 200, pm me... :-D
Correction: I've read a lot of Mustang Six's posts on the F6 forum...

While I don't fully understand building it around a 200i6 I'm happy to see the little 6 get some love. Mine hasn't died yet
