Had to buy an ls3 vette dipstick/tube to work with my holley LS swap pan, which of course i got at summit racing on clearance for over $200 off because the pickup tube was bent. Ls3 vette dipsticks are the most expensive gm dipsticks I've ever seen. Think the tube was $28 and the stick was $30 or something absurd.
Andrew nelson, i have more respect for you than you'll ever know, I don't know if people realize how much of your time you've given me on the phone explaining this chassis to me. You welcomed me into your home, and i am honored to consider you a friend.
Gimp aka Paul, you're like the twin brother I never had. I know you always have my back, and likewise I've got yours.
Everyone else, i almost replied last night something snarky, but i knew you guys would set things straight. I love this community save for the people buried under margie's patio.
Just helped my dad pull the 292 out of my old c20 for his 48 chevy fleetline, now i'm modding abby's power wheels quad with an aluminum subframe for an AGM wheelchair battery. No updates to the car today but i'll see if I can't get some more stuff put up before i head downtown to go on the interweb radio station.

no clue. it was a $100 part, sitting there on a pile of garage buckets in someone's trash. new even. i knew right away what it was because i have a 54 belair and have had several other 53-54 cars. the winter before my son turned one i had a sonoma and used it to pick up scrap as a means of staving off cabin fever and to supplement slow winter time. found a ton of good materials, and paid for my house for 6 months with scrap money.
No car at all today
Power wheels $0. Battery $-10. Aluminum scraps $0. Bolts probably $.30. Little girl's big smile $priceless

Shhhhh. Listen. Hear that??
I hear someone coming down the hall with a keys jangling and a gigantic lock for this thread......
Pat is a good, honest dude. Hope we can hang out one day and talk about who the cheaper bastard is.
Good luck at the challenge, sir.
Great work on the power wheels toy.
This free non-runner arrived at my house last week. I have yet to really work on it.
I'll see you in Florida in two weeks.
I beat you last year by one place (me 10th, you 11th.) Then early this year on our first rematch you beat me at a local autox.
This year at The Challenge I expect you'll beat me by as much as 15 places with you in the top 5. Last year was your learning year. This year I can tell you are here to dominate.
Well done!
Don't worry about the negativity. What you accomplish is remarkable and some would use the adjective unbelievable. When using that adjective, it commonly means that a large portion of the population won't believe. Another phrasing of that adjective is, "if I didn't know better, I wouldn't believe."
Take that as a compliment.
Those that have been, seen, witnessed, met you and been beaten by you know better.
That needs to be somehow included in your build sheets! Still under my record of 11 cones, I think. Took one to the head that time .
Are you going to the NeOhio event in Eastlake next weekend? It just popped up on my FB, limit is 50 cars.
Dietcoke, you have a PM. Everyone else, I only ask that you don't feed this behavoir with any further responses to his posts, as it only serves to further derail Pat's build thread.

carli's cousin's husband put a pair of mower batteries in series under the hood of a barbie h2. he says it'll run for days before it needs charged. he tried to run it on 24v and it did donuts but ate the plastic drive reduction gear. i was going to pick up one of the john deere dump cart things, but forgot and went home a different way after i saw it on the way to the store. i think the batteries die, people price replacement, and just chuck them in the trash.
will not be at the NEO autocross next weekend, i'd love to but at this point i don't have the car off stands and i can't be sure i've got the transmission wired correctly until i can try driving it around the block. i would hope i do because the schematics i used to make the harness were for the donor vehicle and all the colors matched on the pcm and plug. engine wise everything worked. i have way too much time in the harness but it was my first one and i wanted to be certain i didn't rush through anything.
i will probably finish the punch list today minus the sway bar bushings that are coming tomorrow, hooray for amazon prime sunday deliveries.
Man! Awesome! How do you guys find this stuff in garbage piles?!?!? My small town is picked cleaned by bums daily. Sometimes those guys come into your back yard! I need to move somewhere where guns are more prolific.
Dietcoke, I appreciate your zero-skin-in-the-game trolling, really I do. Nothing more adorable. Please trust that there's no "bleeding heatt" agenda here. Just a lot of people who know how to do things you obviously don't. Sorry this is the popular point of view--must suck. Also, just as you are under no obligation to listen to our crap, I am under no obligation to let you further your E36 M3 on a board I pay for. Byee!
Indeed they do, but only if they really needed banning. And now, back to Pat's excellent build thread.
Thank you Marjorie.
Pat, Sorry your thread got high jacked. Our family is very much looking forward to seeing you and yours in Gainesville.
Today i got a whole bunch of nothing done on the car. I just came in from the garage, mostly to clear my head and wrap it around the events of the day. and to take sticker goo off from last year's number panels.
Put the hellcat spoiler on carli's charger before she got up. Played with the kids all morning. Then made them lunch and went outside to play more. The kids and my wife went around the house to where their swings and sandbox are and i went to the garage to grab some stuff and make an abbreviated to do list for the Datsun. I heard colin screaming for us and bolted around the house, abby was face down crying. My wife ran in the house for a minute and in that time abby fell off the swingset. Took her to urgicare, poor baby has a broken arm. So I'm bummed. It could have been way worse. A 4 foot fall for her is like a 12 foot fall for me, and the last time i did that it sucked pretty hard.
She's a tough one though and kicked butt at urgicare, she's going to the orthopedist Monday to have it set and a real cast put on. She's got a fiberglass splint thing and a sling until then, and she was adapting quickly to using one hand until she got tired. Then she got pissed at the world and screamed at me because mommy wouldnt come have imaginary tea with us. She's sleeping now, I anticipate she will wake by 2 when it's time for more tylenol
I swear she did not break her arm on the modded power wheels.
Man that sucks. Nothing worse as a parent than to see your kid hurt. Hope she feels better and make sure she leaves space on the cast for everyone to sign.
You'll need to log in to post.
