I guess summer is right around the corner. Anyone else have a long list of projects facing them?
I am hoping to have a Volvo 122 Wagon here shortly to make a list for. Does that count?
Otherwise, I need to finish the 5 lug upgrade to the 914-4, get the 2.7-6er running, paint the 914-4 and spruce up the interior.
GT6
Who said a car is ever done.
Spit6... install GT6 front brakes... stainless hoses... poly bushings... sport springs... maybe new shocks... and more... This all needs to be done in the next week or so... Unfortunately, it's taking me longer than I'd hoped to straighten out my garage from the recent tool-move.
After that, install a stereo. Maybe add/fix the interior lights... convert boot light to LED strip mounted on lid... add LED strip inside 'vert top... with plug so the same can be installed on my hardtop (currently off the car).
Down the road... clean up the bonnet a bit and touch up the paint.
Drive the hell out of the car. Rain or shine!
Land Rover - #1 fix the injector pump leak, actually, remove it to have it fixed. #2 work on the wiring. Just needs to be cleaned up using some wiring blocks.
GT6 - #1 thru' #999 Start of the frame off restoration. That should keep me out of the bars for most of the summer and fall!
Building my A35 Teapot into a replica of ~the Rae Davis Goodwood Racer~. I'm working on the roll-cage and rebuilding a 1275 for it right now.
.....while maintaining and racing ~my Spridget~ in vintage events. I'll be running the Jefferson 500 in a few weeks and then the New Hamphire Vintage two weeks after that.
No matter which car I bring, I'd like to do the "whole week" deal at the the Pittsburgh Vintage this year and race both weekends.
I sold my NASA racer (Escort) so that has given me a little time, space and cash (and I'll probably still run some NASA events in another car anyway).
Also, I just put a new top on the '69 MGB. It's not a trailer-queen but I'd like to tidy it up a little this Summer without losing all the patina.
I can finally work on the Spitrod again. Here's what's on my task list: Install the refinished instrument panel and the rebuilt gauges I got back from Nysongers a few weeks ago. Clean up the wiring. Totally re-do the brakes from master cylinder out to the 4 corners. Install new clutch master and slave cylinders. Install new windshield seal. Install new steering wheel. Recondition the factory steel hardtop (de-rust, paint, install new seal for the rear window). Select and install new seats.
That should take at least a weekend or two ... unless I go for the the '66 Volvo 122s 4-door that I'm seriously looking at (one owner, garaged since new, 114K miles, very little rust, reasonable price). Then the priority will be for new suspension and head work on that ... or probably head work for me!
The list is longer than ever this year.... 1 get the broken valve spring fixed on the russian sidecar rig. 2 all new brakes/axel seals on the 92 mini cooper. 3 fresh engine/gearbox into the trabant. 4 headers/weber intake on the sprite then emissions test and collectors plates. 5 make roadworthy the 66 toyota truck... tune, tweak, fluids, etc... 6 period speed parts added to the 1958 biscayne. {3 carb intake, fenton headers}
not betting on it all really happening but mabey...

Oh, I have a few of those as well... bathroom remodel... new shed... which with any luck may get expanded into a shop... new flooring... possibly w/ radiant floor heating...
Home ownership = neverending list of projects...
Tim: I fix all my cars with a shovel and hammer, too.
At some point I will re-paint the Fiat. The top of the Miata was cut open and will want more than a big patch.
Cheers Ron
Put in a half-ton of rock and 700 pounds of pavers this weekend while the cars sat around unloved. My back (and Subaru) are not happy about it.
Projects for the summer:
After vanquishing my irrigation system last summer, I wait with bated breath to see what major house system will occupy my time this year.
Let's see - put stock springs back on the MR2, along with new shocks, poly bushings for the steering rack, and re-install the big front swaybar. Do the timing belt/water pump on the MR2. Put new LF fender, corner light, valance, and bumper on wife's pickup, paint it and roll on a bedliner. Various writing, photography and music projects. Stain the deck (ouch!). Recondition the snow thrower auger drive system before next winter starts (the way this one has gone, that may be in a few weeks).
On the fun side, do some four wheeling to ghost towns, fish, and run a couple of track days!! Help restore a Galloping Goose (google that).
Terrace the hill in the back yard, it's too steep! Summer's a good time to be moving dirt and rock.

Getting close to the time where it's too hot in the daytime to drive around here. I plan to jackstand the car until mid September. Headlights to taillights inspection and correct what ever ain't right. Stuff I know that needs attention: New tires, regear the Dana 44 from 3.32 to 3.90 or 4.11, service the trans and replace the rear brakes.
Rebuild the engine in the 'B, wire the shop for 220v, wash and wax the lawn tractor (I'll spend more time with it this summer than with my LBCs), and drink more Guinness than I really should. Cheers, Scott
