I can only hope the car is built as well as it looks.

I like it. I think it'll be a surprise to those that can get over their Chrysler/Dodge hate. This car has quite a few cool features that not many small cars have and the build quality was actually a major issue during the engineering and prototype process. We were months late getting cars to validate on and photograph because they wouldn't allow the car outside of the engineering labs 'till it was at the levels they were shooting for. That's the opposite of what you see many times.
But, only time will tell.
I like the interior and the exterior, but I'd rather see the area between the lower and upper grills be body color, not black.

Hmmm....not bad looking.

Looks like a Focus and Elantra had a love child.

What are the specs?

I am glad it was labeled "dart" I thought it was a Ford Focus....

I was originally under the impression this was supposed to be based on the Fiat Punto chassis, but apparently that is too small. Some sort of Alfa (starting with a G?) is where it came from.

All I know is, Travis Pastrana and Samuel Hubbinette(sp? I always forget) will be driving 600hp awd versions of these in the Global Rallycross Series this year

No kidding... I'm going to hazard a guess this just raw, lightly edited commercial footage.

I like it. I don't buy 4dr sedans, so I'd never buy one, but I could be interested in a 2dr hatchback version.

Autoblog's story, with pics

I agree with the assessment that it looks like the Neon's grandkid, personally.

I was thinking Neon too - until I saw the shots of the interior. Definitely not a Neon interior. Not that it's Neon-ish in a bad way; it's more of a "What if they kept working on the Neon and finally got it right" sort of thing.

I like it. I like that the interior pics show a manual trans.

Another exciting (boring) econobox.

BUT they had that 1.4 engine on display at the state fair here this year and it's an awfully small and light engine. I can see it becoming a donor engine for lots of small cars/buggies. Locost anyone?

Haven't read the specs on it, 'cuz I really don't care... That being said, it looks like a pretty deent candidate for a full-on SRT version.

Do it right, and it there may be enough people willing to forgive Chrysler for the Caliber SRT to make it worth the investment and effort.

Cosmetically it looks decent.

IDK who filmed that vid or if it's just proofs for an ad or something, but I'm quite certain that there is no way they could have made the car look more boring to drive though. My great-grandma in her Oldsmobile could have put on a far more exciting driving display.

Also I think I heard the tires squealing while the car was taking a mild corner at like 20mph. Not exactly screaming "performance".....

Considering the Dart was introduced in '60 as a price leader that most people would want to buy...becoming a price-leader compact later on in its original lifespan...oh dear, they're once again trying to offer a price leading compact car that most people would want to buy? They're pissing all over the badge!

The video description said that they will offer a nine speed transmission. That can't be right, can it?

No, there are three engine choices (1.4L turbo, variable valve timing, 2.0L non-tubro, and later will be a 2.4L non-turbo with the variable valve timing like the 1.4L). There are two 6-speeds, a dual-dry clutch manuual and a regular three-pedal manual.

Exactly. Probably a very good car but it looks like everything else. A generic blob,

I like it. A lot.

But 9 speed automatic.... Can someone explain this to me? Where do the gains become negligible? Where do you draw the line before you just end up with something resembling a cvt because of has 15 speeds?

It seems to me like a moar is better mentality, "let's add ANOTHER gear!" more than any other valid reason.

I really do like it. It stands out on its own. The Limited version looks good too without the black on the front. IMHO it is a good looking car.
