That damn car is still cool 25 years on. My third pinewood derby car was based on that car too.
BTW, I know we're lame for doing this, but my brother and I still quote that damn movie, especially: Skank - "Do you smell a cop?"
Gutterboy - "I smell french fries, but that don't make sense!"
I was trying to decide what to watch tonight....I think you may have solved that

I feel the need to go find my old white linen sport coat and a pink tee shirt.

Awesome may not be superlative enough.
And more '80s goodness: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail/photos/multiPhotoPopup.jsp?paId=403190600&tracktype=usedcc&aff=national#14

I just ran across this and had to bump this thread.
The graphics... the side louvers... the wheels... the targa roof conversion... It's utterly magnificent. WANT.
I would drive around in this thing with a Yamaha DX100 and a Roland TR-808 in the passenger seat and blare cheesy '80s electropop out the open cockpit every time I pulled up to a traffic light. And my life would be perfect.
In reply to Jay:
What is, or should I say, was that? It looks vaguely GM esque.
It's a Renault Alpine A310

That's funny... the first thing I thought was "That's a pretty good looking Chevy Monza":

FOCROFLMAO did you make that or find it?
That's been floating around the interwebz for a long time.
Still funny everytime I see it.
Really ugly 83.
I'm pretty sure they called this kit the "Statutory Rapist."
The famous "Syphilitic" kit.
And a nice looking one, although a little bit too new.
Wow, everything is completely terrible or completely awesome. Nothing in between. Is that what it was like in the 80's?

The 80's was an amalgamation of some of the best toys and gaming ever, and some of the worst. Appears to have been true for cars, too.

I know I've seen that on TV before.
Oh yeah:

Yes, and it was true for everything from cars to music to fashion to politics.
Ford Probe Testarossa Kit:
Anyone else remember the "Truxarossas?"
Some of those body kits remind me of a Rauh-Welt Porsche:

I am pretty sure the fashion was just completely terrible.

Out on the shelf of my shop (somewhere) I have a set of Zenders Fender Extensions that I had on my 80 Toy Corolla (very similar to the white one above)

I don't know... I think there are several fashion items from that time that have persisted and remain fashionable... Vans slip-ons, combining formal wear with jeans, fashion graphic t-shirts, Ray-Ban's popularity, etc.
