Isuzu Impulse Turbo was my object of lust back then, and they are still cool. If you want to learn all about turbocharging a car tat wasn't originally equipped, I think that the Saturn SC2 is plentiful, cheap, can be made to handle, and will hold a ton of boost. IIRC.
Ford Probe = MX6.

Thank you sir!
They're CHEAP!!!!!
[edit] CRAP. They seem to only come in 15s? I need 16s.

Why? You complain all the time about 16" tires being NLA and there's more 15's every day.
Does anyone make a kit to make Audi quattro look like the rally cars (obviously not the Sport quattro version)?

I complain about that for the size that maximizes my performance potential for Celica.
On the MX6, i don't care that much, and i have a half-used set of 245/45-16 RS2s laying around that i was going to put on my FD RX7 wheels, but a nice set of 16x8 ATS Cups would have been way cooler.
Plus, plenty of 225 width rubber in 16".
It being the MX6, it's purely for looks. 15s look bad. (only exception being the FC RX7 BBS) 16s and 17s are the sweet spot.
Turbo Brat='80s turbo goodness
Turbo Brat+WRX='80s turbo GREATNESS! Its only a model, but it still makes my pants tight just thinking about it

Oh my yes!

???
The Quattro IS the rally car!
This is the other turbo quattro available in the 80s.
Of course you can swap turbo engines into non-turbo bodies, since pretty much everything had the same(ish) 5 cylinder block in the 80s.

To me that looks a little different.

Sure, but Euro bumpers aside, this one looks the same:
Your picture is the A2, while this one is the A1 [edit:maybe it's not even an A1. It appears to be just a Quattro.]. They're both the real deal.
You are all right and all wrong simultaneously!
This is the Audi Quattro, and we did get it in the US:
This is the Rally Car that became of it:
But this is the Sport Quattro, which we did not get in the US:
And thus this is the infamous rally car everybody thinks of:
It's okay, as I had no idea either until I started reading Bring a Trailer (thanks GRM!) and realized there was a SWB Quattro Sport, and our regualr Quattro.
And just cause I can (Sport Quattro):
Can't believe people think a fwd MX-6 turbo is more reliable than the k3 Supra turbo.
The Supra is so over built it's ridiculous. Very strong aftermarket support, can make large amounts of power and is rwd.
Everyone expects a 500rwhp Mk4 Supra, the Mk3's are sleepers and are cheap to buy.

How am I wrong, exactly? Unless you mean that my white car is not an actual rally car.
Hey, I said you were right too! The Ur-Quattro did spawn rally cars, but the "famous" one everyone thinks of is the Stig Blomvquist one, which is a Sport Quattro SWB, which we didn't get.
Still on the rally theme, has the Mazda 323 GTX been mentioned yet?
Or its brother, the 323 GT turbo sedan?
I think the Mitsu Cordia and maybe the Tredia were offered inturbo form for North America, but I'm not 100% sure....

I guess I'm not "everyone" then! The UrQuatto spawned the rally cars that won, and they're the ones I think of, the Quattro A1 and A2 rally cars. They were waaaaay more successful than the Sport Quats, BTW.
The Blue Sanyo car you linked to (not a Sport Quat) appears to be a Blomqvist Audi Sport Sweden car.
Did you know that Blomqvist won only one rally in a Sport Quat?

Less to go wrong on the MX6, really... it's a far simpler motor. And i'd say at least the same level of "overbuilt" if not more.
I've got experience with both cars. With his "requirements" of 300whp for the MX6, and 500whp for the Supra, the MX6 will be far more reliable at that power level, and cheaper to get there.
Would i personally rather have a 500whp Supra than my personal 300whp+ MX6? Hell yes.
To the OP, since you have expressed interest in the MX6, and since I feel compelled to evangelize for them and their ilk...
I want to remind everyone that the GD body (88-92) cars also came in 626 form as sedans and tasty 5-doors, as seen below. All were available with the turbo F2T motor.
In addition, one must not forget the GC body 626 (83-87) which came in GT-turbo form in '86&'87, and which also came in coupe, sedan, and 5-door varieties. These came with the earlier FET 2.0 8v version of the F-series but are easily converted to F2T power.
All of these cars are reliable, very comfortable to drive, with high-quality materials, and a sweet 80s feel.

The MX6 motor is seriously stout, seriously.
