Nah, low price is obviously important... probably a junk-yard V8. You been reading my Kimini book?

Little lost on your comment but I watched your Kimini build online from the beginning. Truly inspiring build.

Big MTR work weekend coming up. Hoping to get the body off the frame and mock up the front suspension. Since I had the day off I decided to get a head start on things and lighten the load a bit.

If Andy had this car it would be done already and 2x as fast in the 1/4 mile :) He has played an integral role in parts supply too, what else do you think happens with all those VW chassis he's not using anymore :)

no disrespect intended to Andy, he's had plenty of my favorite projects over the last few years. but this one, to me, is so freakishly absurd that it must be the king of the hill.

did you get the phone dials yet? did they meet your expectations for the price? public reply if yes, private if no.

Doh, I never did send you an email about that, sorry, yes I did pick them up from Andy when I got the chassis. They are excellent and should add a very interesting look to the Wartburg :)

I'm glad to hear comments like "so freakishly absurd" I really wanted to do something over the top but honestly after hanging out around here for 10 some odd years nothing seems absurd to me anymore so I wasn't sure if I was doing GRM proud or not.

I think Freakishy Absurd is what we're aiming for ... The day I heard Jim won the wartburg ... I thought "oh boy this is gonna be really freaky" ... OK it was an f-word but not that one!

Long work day so alot of updates for everyone.

Started my morning by building a quick body dolly.

Then Chris and Jim W came by and we finished removing all removable body panels. The hood, trunk and rear fenders were removed to finish lightening the load. The body mount bolts were broken off and we rolled her outside. Chris came up with the good idea to put the rear of the body on the lift and then using a board for leverage he lifted the front of the body while Jim and I put some jack stands under it. We then rolled the chassis out from under her and rolled the body dolly under the body. Tarped it all up and rolled it out for later.

The chassis was brought back in and stripped of all the suspension components so now we just have a bare frame to start working with.

One of these things is not like the other. Seems the eye of the rear leaf spring on the passenger side has returned to the earth. Thankfully we wont be reusing this part.

Then back outside (in the snow) for a little clean up

We ended the day with a little work on the front suspension mock up. Needed a little forward progress after all the tear down. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is a porsche 944 suspension bolted into a Wartburg. Kinda looks like it was meant to be there.
