From what I hear they are definitely DIY-able. You can probably also find a specialist who'll work on them for a reasonable rate to keep labour costs down, but the big problem is parts cost. In the UK there's a thriving cottage industry that refurbishes parts for RR and Bentley for that reason, I wouldn't be surprised if that exists over here, too.

Nope. We just buy from the UK market suppliers.

The really shocking thing about this era RR and Bentley cars is how carelessly they seem to be thrown together. I have found hundreds of carpet tacks rusting under carpets like someone spilled a box while assembling the car, said "Berk it" and laid the insulation down and hammered the carpet over it. This wasn't an isolated incident. Two mid 90's rollers an a Bentley had tons of loose tacks like this.

Also for the keen reader, yes this means they were nailing the carpet to the sheet metal. Craftsmanship or terrible construction techniques? You decide.

Hey, just like Wolfsburg-built Rabbits did! And they had a long reputation as being well built, long-lasting vehicles that totally didn't rot out as soon as the ship taking them across the Atlantic smelled a salty ocean breeze.

I would rather have an Aston Martin Lagonda or a Maserati Quattroporte III. I do think the Bentley is cool but I will leave owning one to someone else.

At least they left spares so any future carpet repair could be done with the OEM numbers-matching tacks.

I have removed the front fender from a Wolfsburg Rabbit and a PA Rabbit. There's a dramatic difference in construction quality. Give me the German one any day.

I like them also and they are on the list, so I'll probably get one eventually, but right now I'm on a German car run.
